A huge blaze consumed a barn on Calgary city limits late Monday night.

Crews from three departments were called to fight a barn fire at 226 Ave. and 80 St. near Dewinton at about 10 p.m.

When crews were initially called, it was believed that people were inside the barn at the time of the fire, but when crews arrived they found no one was in the structure.

The barn was fully engulfed in flames and some farm equipment including a tractor, bailer, car, and a bobcat were all destroyed.

There were also reports of propane tanks inside the barn, prompting crews to take caution because of the exploding tanks.

Crews from the M.D. of Foothills and Okotoks also helped in fighting the blaze.

No one was hurt and the cause is still under investigation.
