A woman attacked by dogs on the weekend has a long recovery ahead.

Calgary By-law and Animal Services says the 35-year-old woman was in the community of Applewood Park Sunday night.

"The victim walked into a residence. The female victim was talking to the dog owners, the home owner, and the dogs burst out of the house. One bit her on the leg. She went down and it bit her in the face," says Bill Bruce from Bylaw Services.

The breed of the dogs has not officially been disclosed but they appear to be young pitbulls.

The woman ended up with bites to her face and legs. Her nose was essentially ripped off.  She has undergone two surgeries so far.

A tip led to the apprehension of the two dogs Wednesday afternoon and investigators are speaking with the animals' owner.

So far, no charges have been laid.
