Two dogs that terrorized children in the southwest Calgary community of Evergreen have been returned to their owner and will be held to a strict list of conditions.

The dogs ran wild last week in a schoolyard in the community, chasing a number of children and their parents.

Police were called and, on arrival, shot at one of the dogs that charged at an officer.

The owner of the dogs, a flat coated retriever and a Labrador cross, has been fined $850 for not having the dogs under control and not registering one of the animals.

The dogs can only be walked by adults over the age of 18 and are not allowed in off leash parks.
