The investigation continues into the cause of a fire that burned a home on the edge of the city to the ground.

Firefighters were called to an acreage in southeast Calgary on Sunday night and found a home completely engulfed in flames.

Fire broke out at the two story home on 17 Ave. and 92 St. S.E., at about 7:00 p.m.

When crews arrived, smoke was pouring out of a second floor window.

Firefighters entered the home and found that the floor was unsafe. They pulled crews out of the home and began a defensive attack to keep the fire from spreading.

Acting Battalion Chief Bob Akins said the fire was compromising the integrity of the structure. "It was burning away so we had to pull them out and then went defensive on the fire immediately."

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.

No one was hurt in the fire and there are no estimates on damage.
