According to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada, Albertans are earning higher weekly wages than people in other provinces.
The data shows the average earnings in this province rose to just over $1000 per week compared to the national average of about $884.
Ken Vinge is from Bowen Workforce Solutions, a local placement agency.
Vinge says he is not surprised by the stats and that many companies use a higher salary to entice workers.
"We don't have any new net people that we can attract so really today what they try to do, they being the employers, are trying to attract that talent with increased wage. So really they're going back to ABC resource and trying to get that completions engineer to come over to there, to their office and to their opportunity and they do that by saying here is a 5 percent increase in pay," said Vinge.
The average weekly earnings are up about 5 percent over last year.
