A travel advisory that was issued for Highway 1 west of the Kananaskis overpass has been lifted.

The alert was issued for the area on Tuesday morning because of a large accumulation of snow and zero visibility.

Motorists in the area say visibility was reduced to just a few hundred metres.

The road between Lac Des Arcs and the Banff Park gates was also in poor condition and several large trucks were pulled over waiting for the conditions to clear.

Highways outside the city were in fair condition with drifting snow and reduced visibility in some areas.
