Hundreds of McDonald's customers got more than they ordered after an alleged dispute between two groups resulted in several people getting doused with pepper spray.

The incident happened at the McDonald's Restaurant in the Falconridge area over the lunch hour.

Witnesses say a young man pepper sprayed someone else who was harassing him.

People in the restaurant also say the young man had threatened to use the spray moments before he actually did.

The stinging spray spread and affected dozens of patrons.

"Approximately 200 people estimated inside the restaurant. This incident occurred in one isolated area of the restaurant at a table. But as a result, I mean it is a confined area, and with pepper spray it deploys and spreads and thins out with the air so decontamination of the restaurant had to occur," said CPS Duty Inspector Paul Malcow

Most of the customers appeared to be high school students.

Several of the students told CTV News that there is a history between the two groups involved and that the teenager who used the spray had been bullied by the others before.

Police are not commenting on the statement but did say that the teenager was taken into custody and may face serious charges.

"All weapon related charges such as prohibited weapons, weapons dangerous to the public peace and several counts of assault with a weapon," said Malcow.

The teen that was arrested is 16 and his alleged victims are all between the ages of 15 and 17.
