Why didn't they call police? That's the question the grieving family of a young woman, killed in a hit and run, can't seem to fathom.

Faiza Mohamud's father and cousins are still reeling from the sudden death of the beautiful 22-year-old student.

Faiza was mowed down while crossing Macleod Tr. on Friday night.

Police allege 36-year-old Robert St.Jean was behind the wheel of the Jeep that hit Faiza and did not stop.

The police report shows there were also two passengers in the vehicle, a 36-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.

In the five days following the collision, neither reported the hit and run.

"Those who were together with the driver, the guy who caused the accident," asks Mahamad Abdille, the victim's cousin, "another two persons were with the driver, they don't surrender when they hit them?"

Robert St.Jean appeared in court on Thursday.

St. Jean's criminal record in his native Quebec dates back to 1995 and he's currently on probation.

Mohamud's family says the circumstances of their daughter's death make it all the more difficult to comprehend.
