Calgary Police have arrested and charged a man behind a scheme that took advantage of several people in an online buying and selling scam.
Ivo Martin Jebsen, 45, is charged with 15 counts of fraud and telecommunications offences.
Police say that Jebsen initiated contact with clients to sell them a wide range of items including a milling machine, jukeboxes, 2010 Olympic tickets, and more recently, pinball machines and hot tubs.
The total amount of the defrauded products totals $15,500.
The incidents occurred between Dec. 15, 2008, and Tuesday, Sep. 13, 2011 and involve 13 victims.
In each case, the victims found the items in question for sale online and communicated with Jebsen via email.
Jebsen told the customers to pay for items in advance but once payment was received, he never shipped them the products.
Jebsen was arrested on Oct. 13 when the Fraud Team executed a search warrant at a home in the 7900 block of Huntwick Hill N.E.
The Calgary Police urges citizens to always be cautious when purchasing products online because in most Internet purchases, you often deal with people you don't know on an item you have not seen.
