Premier Alison Redford's first day in the legislature occurred Monday as the fall session begins in the capital.

The Tories are facing criticism over cancelling the fall session, then bowing to opposition pressure to open it again.

MLA's will sit for two days this week and then adjourn for a month long break before resuming session.

But the legislature will only sit for eight days in November.

The party says the two day session will allow them time to address the big issues of the day.

The new premier, however, is being hit on all sides with opposition saying she is running scared and the Tories are ‘playing hooky'.

After their session on Tuesday, they will adjourn until Nov. 21.
