Police have identified a man who was shot and killed early Sunday morning and are still looking for a suspect in the homicide.

Police were called to a report of shots fired in front of a bar in the 800 block of 16 Ave. S.W. on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at 4:30 a.m.

Officers found, Mead Abdillahi Ousman, 22, lying on the sidewalk when they arrived.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and police say he died as a result of the shooting.

A second man was transported to hospital and was treated for superficial injuries.

He was interviewed by Homicide Unit investigators and released.

Police are not clear on a motive for the shooting or whether the incident was random or targeted.

Police continue to look for a suspect who is described as:

  • Black male
  • 188 to 193 cm or 6'2" to 6'4" tall
  • Wearing dark track pants and a light-coloured hoodie with the hood up

Police say he was seen leaving the area in a silver or white Chevrolet Malibu.
