Firefighters at Firehall 16 in southeast Calgary were alerted to the scene of a fire not by an alarm, but by the smell of smoke.
They first caught the odour at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night coming from the Highfield Industrial Park.
They found four vehicles engulfed in flame along with a large quantity of used automotive parts and materials inside a fenced yard in the 3800 block of 8 St. S.E.
Crew put out the blaze and contained the damage to the vehicles and the parts.
No buildings were damages and no one was injured in the fire.
Investigators are looking for a cause.
