KELOWNA, B.C. - Mounties are now saying that the drowning of an Alberta woman in a British Columbia lake is a homicide.

Laura Letts-Beckett, 50, was fishing with her husband on Upper Arrow Lake near Shelter Bay, last August.

At the time, RCMP reported that Letts-Beckett, who was from Westlock, was standing in a small boat when she fell into the water.

Peter Ernest Edward Beckett, 54, has now been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife.

Beckett is scheduled to appear Thursday in provincial court in Kelowna, B.C.
