Police and emergency crews were called to Springbank Airport on Friday afternoon after a helicopter crashed into the tarmac.

A person working at Red Eagle Aviation, who owns the helicopter, told CTV News that the chopper was only a few feet off the ground when the crash happened.

Apparently a skid got caught on the pavement, the helicopter heaved, and a rotor hit the ground.

Employees with the aviation company say the aircraft was booked for a bachelor party.

The pilot was taking up members of the party, one at a time, for an introductory flight.

The General Manager of the airport says they will look into what happened and determine who was at the controls when the crash happened.

No one was hurt in the crash.

The helicopter is worth about $150,000 and damages have yet to be determined.
