VANCOUVER - The rock band Cheap Trick has cancelled a performance in Vancouver because the staging is being provided by the same company involved in an incident in which a stage collapsed during a storm in Ottawa.

Cheap Trick had been scheduled to perform Sept. 1 at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver.

But a posting on the group's website says the performance has been cancelled and as a matter of safety, the group won't appear on any stage provided by Mega-Stage.

Cheap Trick was performing at the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest on July 17 when scaffolding buckled during a violent summer storm.

Four people were hurt, including the group's truck driver.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating.
