A mother charged with the death of her infant son and attempting to kill her other son pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday afternoon.

Stacey Bourdeaux pleaded guilty to several charges and admitted to trying to smother her sons.

Bourdeaux was charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of her 10-month-old son Sean Fewer in December 2004.

Investigators found the little boy dead in his crib and initially thought the child died from SIDS.

In 2010, Bourdeaux rushed another son, who was five at the time, to hospital after he was having trouble breathing and was struggling to stand.

Police were notified that the child's injuries were suspect and that prompted investigators to re-examine Sean's death.

They determined that the boy was murdered and laid charges against Bourdeaux.

Bourdeaux has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Sean's death.

She also pleaded guilty to attempted murder and failure to provide the necessities of life to her five-year-old son.

Bourdeaux underwent a 30 day mental assessment in 2010.

Bourdeaux's lawyer says her client's psychiatric state will play a role in her sentencing.
