The federal government has released the names and photos of 30 people it says entered Canada illegally. And that list includes a 44-year-old man with a last known address in Edmonton.

The names and pictures of all 30 people are on display on this website, unveiled by Ottawa Thursday.

The new website states 44-year-old Cristobal Gonzalez-Ramirez, AKA Ramirez Cristobal, of Honduras, last known address was in Edmonton.

Officials say Mahmood Khalid Hafiz of Pakistan shows his last known address to be in Calgary. And Dimitrije Karic of Yugoslavia was last known to be in Medicine Hat.

The federal government says there stringent measures to prevent war criminals from entering Canada, but it can be difficult to spot those who apply for asylum using false passports.

"It's extremely important that those who have lied to us and snuck into the country without declaring complicity in such crimes be rounded up and kicked out of Canada," said Federal Immigration Minister Jason Kenney.

Edmonton police say Canada Border Services made them aware of Gonzalez-Ramirez back in March.

"The Edmonton Police Service is aware of this individual. There is a Canada-wide warrant on the system, so if any of our officers do detect him he is arrestable," said police spokesperson Patrycia Thenu.

The federal government says none of the individuals named are facing charges by a criminal court, but the Immigration and Refugee Board says it has reasonable ground to believe these people were involved in crimes against humanity or genocide.

If caught, the individuals will be deported.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews says about 300 people are denied entry to Canada each year because of suspected violations of human rights.

If the new website proves to be successful, the government says it may release more names in the future.
