Police say that a youth who died in Strathmore hospital may have consumed Ecstasy tainted with addtional chemicals.

The drug involved in the incident is described as a small yellow pill with a 'Mickey Mouse' design on it.

They say that with illegal drugs, there is no quality control during production and any individuals who take the drug leave themselves open to injury or death.

RCMP attended a complaint of two people displaying erratic behaviour at the Strathmore Skateboard Park at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

They were rushed to hospital where the condition of both individuals continued to deteriorate as they were attended by emergency staff.

The 15 year old, from Strathmore, died at Strathmore Hospital soon after arriving.

The 19 year old, also from Strathmore, was transported by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital in Calgary where he remains in stable condition.

The events leading up to the call remain under investigation by the Strathmore RCMP and the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

Police say that there is no indication that either youth is a victim of a criminal act.

An autopsy will be conducted as soon as possible to determine the cause of death.

Strathmore is about 50 km east of Calgary.
