Cold weather and the weddings' early hours couldn't stop a group of Calgary's faithful few from watching the royal wedding live.
Early morning parties were held across the city to mark the historic event.
At the Fairmont Palliser Hotel, royal watchers packed the restaurant for a breakfast fit for a king and queen.
Royal lookalikes also joined in the festivities, all eager to take part.
Guests at the Glencoe Club were up in the early hours with champagne and a proper English breakfast to set the tone.
They joined an estimated third of the world's population in watching the event live.
The participants said it was a sense of history that convinced them to get up that early. "I heard so much about charities and Dianna's wedding so many years ago and what a big deal it was. Watching this wedding is like that for our generation. It's a big deal for me, I think it's a life changing moment in history," said Nathan Itzcovitch.
History wasn't the only thing they were interested in.
Kate's dress was a hit in Calgary, as were the dresses of her maid of honour and bridesmaids.
The fashions there will definitely set the trends for seasons to come.
