Police were called to the scene of a roof collapse at a care facility in the southeast on Wednesday afternoon.

Part of the roof at the Clifton Manor at 4726 8th Ave. S.E. fell in just before 1:00 p.m.

Police say a large quantity of roofing materials fell through the roof into the dining centre at the senior's facility.

They have removed workers, materials, and equipment from the roof as a precautionary measure.

There were several residents and staff members in the dining room at the time but no one was trapped or injured.

The Fire Department's Heavy Rescue Technical Team shored up and secured the roof in anticipation of the coming snow storm.

None of the residents have been displaced and their daily routine will not be impacted.

The City of Calgary Development Building Approvals is investigating the incident.
