Fire crews doused a blaze Sunday morning at a southwest fireplace business.

At around 2:24 a.m., crews arrived at Hearth and Home Fireplace Specialties located at 5740 1A St. responding to a fire alarm activation.

They quickly extinguished the fire, which had been contained to the second floor.

Preston Meyer with Hearth and Home says the fire was accidental and started in when a fireplace turned on in the middle of the night.

A can of solvent had been left near the fireplace and exploded, igniting a fire in the company's showroom.

Meyer said a worker thought the fireplace was turned off and didn't know it was set on a remote control.

He reminded people to keep combustible materials at least four feet away from fireplaces.

There is no damage estimate available at this time.
