A Calgary judge has sentenced Ryan Everett to 8 years in prison minus 3 years for time served.

Last month, a jury found Everett guilty of manslaughter in the stabbing death of Eric Regimbald.

Regimbald was killed in August 2006 and his body was dumped in Chinatown.

Regimbald's family admits he was addicted to crack cocaine and had fallen in with the wrong crowd.

They say they will never fully know the truth about what happened to Eric, but say the jury reached a fair verdict, after deliberating late into the night.
