Many Ramsay residents won't be upset if the Lilydale Food plant is relocated to make room for the southeast LRT.

The plant has been a part of the neighbourhood since the 40's. Ramsay residents have been vocal about the smell over the years and many won't be unhappy to see the plant moved.

The proposed route for the southeast LRT may mean that the city will have to acquire the Lilydale property to expand the transit service.

The province has committed $800 million in transit grants but additional funds will likely be needed to acquire properties along the route.

Lilydale officials saw the plan for the first time on Wednesday and have known for about five years that the LRT project might need the land to expand.

There won't be a final decision for awhile because the city needs to acquire about 27 more properties for the LRT alignment.
