The parents of a young boy who took a spin on the CTrain by himself were at Dalhousie Station on Saturday to thank the Good Samaritan and the CTrain driver who helped their son.

The little boy boarded the CTrain by himself on Friday just after 4:00 p.m. in freezing temperatures without a jacket, shoes, or toque.

A lady noticed the five-year-old and stayed on the train with the child. She gave him some of her warm clothing, then attracted the attention of the driver though the emergency help phone onboard and explained the situation.

The CTrain operator came into the car at the next station and cared for the boy by taking him into his cab. He then radioed for assistance to Calgary Transit's Operation Control Centre and Calgary Transit peace officers were sent to meet the train at Brentwood Station.

In the mean time, the boy's parents had reported him missing to police. He managed to slip out of the house and make his way over to the nearby station.

Thanks to the efforts of Calgary Transit and the Good Samaritan, the little boy was reunited with his parents a short time later.
