A Calgary mom accused of trying to kill two of her children has elected to be tried by judge alone.

In June, Stacey Bourdeaux, 33, was charged with trying to kill her five-year-old son.

At the time, police said the mother took the boy to hospital because he couldn't breathe or stand properly.

Investigators believe he'd been choked.

Police say in light of that incident, they began investigating Bourdeaux and charged her with second-degree murder in the 2004 death of her 10-month-old son, which had originally been classified as a SIDS death.

Bourdeaux will be back in court March 3rd, when a date will be set for a preliminary inquiry.

She will be tried separately for the 2004 incident and last year's injuries to her son.
