Transport Canada has issued a warning about a number of child car seats.

The warning targets certain models of Cosco, Eddie Bauer, Safety 1st, Maxi-Cosi and Schwinn car seats.

Transport Canada says that the harness adjustment strap can loosen increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

More than 135,000 of the seats were sold in Canada between May 2008 to May 2009 and at least 12 models are affected.

The affected seats were all made by Dorel Juvenile Group in the United States.

The company is offering a repair kit to consumers.

They can be contacted online at Dorel's web site, by phone at 1-866-446-2628, or e-mail at harnessadjustment@djgusa.com
