The future Martindale CTrain station is once again stirring up controversy and residents are meeting to discuss their concerns.

People in the community are concerned about the LRT tracks being so close to nearby homes and a school. Many are also upset over a secondary entrance to one of the platforms.

They are afraid that the location of the entrance will turn their street into a kiss and ride, as people drop off commuters, and there will be an increase in traffic and noise as a result.

Many parents in the area are also worried about the safety of their younger children .

The current proposal sees the station in Martindale as a split side loading station, with a platform on either side of Martindale Boulevard.

Residents claim that the city built the secondary entranceway without public consultations but the city says that is not the case and they did consult the public.

The McKnight-Westwinds station to Saddletowne Circle will support around 8,000 passengers daily when it opens in the fall of 2012.

The city is meeting with residents on Monday night at Crossing Park School at 500 Martindale Blvd. N.E. at 6:30 p.m.
