Former mayoral candidate Barb Higgins says she has decided not to seek a federal seat opening up in Calgary.

When Jim Prentice announced his resignation as MP for Calgary Centre-North, Higgins told CTV news she would consider seeking the Conservative nomination.

But in a Facebook posting, she now says she will not run there. She indicated she is still exploring other options on what to do next.

Her former rival in the mayor's race, Ric McIver, hasn't said if he will seek the Conservative nomination in Prentice's riding.
