A Calgary-based company has won a large contract to maintain Canada's CF-18 Hornet fleet.
The federal government awarded the $273-million contract to Harris Canada Inc..
The announcement was made at the Harris facility in Calgary on Sunday.
The CF-18 fleet will be retired in nine years.
This contract will cover the repair, overhaul, engineering and management of the fleet's electronic systems until the fleet is replaced.
Harris will employ forty full time workers as a result of the contract.
The Public Works Minister Rona Ambrose says the contract supports high quality jobs in the city.
The CF-18 fleet is scheduled to be replaced by the F-35 Lightning II aircraft in 2020.
