We are hearing for the first time from the victim of a brutal torture.

The alleged victim's appearance Saturday is a marked contrast with what he looked like just a few months ago.

The disturbing image makes it clear how far his recovery has come.

The former Calgarian told CTV,"I just can't wait to do everything I used to. I can do everything that I need for myself now, which I wasn't able to before. Like when I first got here I wasn't able to put on socks, I wasn't able to get dressed and now I do all that myself."

He has made an incredible recovery since he was dumped outside a Regina hospital in April.

Doctors found him beaten, burned, emaciated, and mutilated.

He was barely recognizable, weighing just 87 pounds.

He told CTV News about his recovery and says a lot of his memory has returned.

He still hasn't regained all of it though, and he may never, but he says he's prepared to accept that.

He also spoke about the arrest of Dustin Paxton.

Paxton has been charged with assault and forcible confinement.

The alleged victim says he was up all night when he found out his alleged abuser may have been arrested, "I didn't sleep at all the night he got caught, because they said he might have been. So I sat there waiting for them to confirm for me and that didn't happen until breakfast time."

He will be leaving the hospital in Regina on Monday.

Then he's headed to Victoria where he will live with his mother.

He still has a lot of rehabilitation ahead of him, but he's thrilled that he'll be getting that treatment on an out-patient basis.
