A 20-year-old man has died after a fight Thursday night outside a northeast bar.

Around 11 p.m., a group of three young men were walking in the 900 block of 36 Street NE.

When they walked past the Mezzaluna Bar they got into an argument with a group of 10 men in the parking lot.

One of the three young men was stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat.

He was taken to hospital in serious, life threatening condition but later died from his injuries.

After the altercation, three people left the scene on motorcycles.

Police and EMS were called.

A HAWCs helicopter spotted three suspects several blocks away on bikes. They were questioned and later released after being cleared of any involvement in the case.

The Homicide Unit is investigating.

The victim's name and cause of death won't be released until the autopsy has been completed.

It's scheduled to take place Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

This is Calgary's ninth homicide of 2010.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
