A group of people opposed to Ottawa's new rules against copyright infringement protested at Calgary City Hall Sunday.

The group is opposed to Bill C-32.

It's meant to replace Bill C-61 which died when parliament was dissolved and an election called in 2008.

The new legislation would allow companies to seek damages up to $5,000 from anyone who illegally copies digital material, like music.

The Harper government proposed the new bill saying the old laws simply didn't deal with today's new technologies.
