A Canadian Pacific train has derailed near Carstairs, Alberta.

It happened at around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

A southbound train went off the tracks just south of Carstairs.

Thirteen railcars went off the tracks including two locomotives.

CPR officials tell CTV News there is no threat to the community and no roads in the area have been closed.

The railcars are carrying "mixed freight" which does not include any hazardous materials.

RCMP and CP officials are at the scene to oversee the cleanup, which is expected to take hours.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation but police say no foul play is suspected.
