Rouge has been named one of the world's 100 best restaurants.

The Inglewood eatery has placed 60th on The San Pellegrino World's Best Restaurants.

Rouge has always been viewed by Calgarians as one of the best places to eat but this is the first time a Calgary restaurant has ever made the prestigious list.

The list is usually dominated by European and American establishments.

The co-owner of Rouge thinks the kudos reflects how much Canada's cuisine deserves international recognition. "I jut think it's good for people to understand Western Canada has a good restaurant scene, in general, and Calgary was well. We're not so much a meat and potato town anymore," says Olivier Reynaud.

Those who were dining at the restaurant on Tuesday weren't surprised Rouge made such an international mark. "It's fabulous, the food is just amazing and the presentation is wonderful," says one patron.

The only other Canadian restaurant to make this year's list is in Cambridge, Ontario. Langdon Hall placed 77th.

The top rated restaurant in the world is called Noma and can be found in Denmark.

The full list will be published in the May edition of Restaurant Magazine. The list is also available online, just click on the link to the right to view it.
