Police have released the name of the motorcyclist killed in a terrible crash in the East Kootenay Sunday afternoon.

71-year-old Harold James Reeves died at the scene.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. on Highway 95A between Cranbrook and Kimberley.

The highway was closed for several hours and traffic had to be re-routed.

Two collision re-constructionists, as well as members of the RCMP and East Kootenay traffic services, were called in to investigate.

Investigators believe a minivan and a car were ahead of the motorcycle traveling north towards Kimberley when the crash happened.
