Alderman Ric McIver is running for mayor.

He is making the official announcement Wednesday evening at the Ramsay Exchange.

Nearly 1,000 people will gather for Ric's Block Party which charged $150/plate and is a fundraiser for his mayoralty run.

McIver hasn't made it a secret that he would run for mayor.

He says after being an alderman for the past eight-years he is ready to do more for Calgarians.

The first step would be ensuring council works together. "We're not serving the city unless we have all 15 hands on deck. Unless we listen to the 13,000 people who work for the city and the 1.1-million who are experts at living in this city," says McIver.

There are four candidates now running for mayor: Jon Lord, Paul Hughes, Joe Connelly, and Ric McIver.

The Municipal Election takes place on Monday, October 18th.
