Officials say a recent case of possible food tampering is actually a manufacturing defect.

Reports of glass being found in bread at a southwest Calgary Sobeys were made public on the weekend.

But officials with the company say it is not a case of food tampering.

A small piece of glass was found in a bread product on Friday.

An internal investigation by Sobeys concluded that it was not a case of food tampering.

The company is now working with the manufacturer to determine where the glass came from.

The product has been removed from the shelves at the location where it was found.

Other stores were notified about the incident but no other cases were found and the product has not been pulled from the shelves city-wide.

Officials are not naming the brand of bread involved during the investigation.
