A provincial investigative team says a Calgary police officer was justified in shooting a suspect last year.

Sgt. Dave Jennings opened fire on a stolen car inside a car wash on Richmond Road S.W. in March 18, 2009.

The vehicle was being driven by Travis Douglas Oakes.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says that when officers tried to arrest Oakes, he jumped back into his car and attempted to ram his way past the police vehicles which were blocking him in.

After his fourth attempt to get away, Oakes was fatally shot three times.

ASIRT officials say after reviewing the case, there is no evidence to support criminal charges.
