Toyota Canada held a show and tell session at Race City Motorsport Park on Thursday to demonstrate an upgrade to its braking systems.

The company is trying to restore consumer confidence, in the wake of a series of recalls.

Toyota says it will now install a brake override system in Tacoma trucks, Venza cross-over's, and sequoia SUV's.

The override is activated by pressing on the accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously.

The override cuts the power even though the engine is still revving.

Toyota had previously announced the system would be installed in some Avalon, Camry and Lexus models but now says that all new Toyotas will eventually have a brake override.

"All production vehicles will have software upgrades and brake override systems by the end of the year," said Sandy Di Felice of Toyota Canada.

Toyota continues to repair accelerators because of a potential sticky pedal and has fixed about 30 % of the recalled cars in Canada.
