The stage is set in Calgary for a celebration that will help kick off the first full day of competition at Vancouver 2010.
On Saturday, from 2:30 p.m.until 7 p.m., Calgarians will be able to watch the Games live at Olympic Plaza.
"Tomorrow could be a really big day. We could break history with the first Canadian gold on Canadian soil," says Michael Boughner, who is helping organize the event.
The CTV Olympic Celebration will feature free, family friendly activities and entertainment.
One of those taking to the stage is Lindsay Ell.
The Calgary musician says this will be her first time experiencing the Olympics on Canadian soil. "I am always so proud to see our athletes succeed and in 1988 I wasn't even born yet so this is pretty special for me because I've never felt the Olympic hosted in our country before," says Ell.
Also taking to the stage on Saturday will be The Dudes and Simple Plan.
Olympian Paul Boehm will also be at the party.
The Olympic skeleton athlete says the public event is a chance for all Calgarians to show their national pride. "It's so exciting for everyone to take part. It's not just Vancouver's Olympics, it's an across-Canada event," says Boehm.
Calgarians will also notice the flame on top of the Calgary Tower.
It's being lit in honour of the opening ceremonies on Friday night. It will also be lit between, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., every time a Canadian wins a medal during the Olympics.
