A car was shot up in Marda Loop early Saturday morning and a man was sent to hospital with gunshot wounds.

At around 12:45 a.m., police received several calls of gunshots near 21st Street and 33rd Avenue SW.

Police found a vehicle with two men inside, and one of them had been shot in the upper body.

He was transported to hospital with serious injuries, but his condition has since been upgraded to stable non-life threatening.

Investigators do not believe this was a random attack and say the shooting was likely over drugs.

According to police, the car pulled up to a person on the side of the road for a scheduled meeting and the driver was shot several times by a person standing outside the vehicle.

At this point, no one has been arrested.

Police continue to investigate.
