A Brooks man is facing numerous charges after a disturbing incident in that town.

The man is accused of holding his common-law wife against her will for a month.

During that time, it is alleged the man repeatedly sexually assaulted her and forced her to stay in the couple's apartment.

RCMP say the woman was eventually allowed to leave on December 30 when she reported the incident to police.

A 24-year-old man is charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement.

His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
