A woman is dead, and two men are in custody following a hit and run crash in northwest Calgary. The impact of the crash was so severe; it tore through a small Saturn, and then hit a second vehicle.

The driver of the second car tells CTV News, the whole thing happened very fast.

"I just saw a red Ford F150 buckled in the side of another grey car and then they came at me, and hit me so hard I can't remember anything else."

It happened at the intersection of 20th Avenue and 10th Street S.W. just before 11:00 Sunday morning.

The pick up truck involved in the crash turned out to be stolen. After the collision, the driver and passenger of that truck ran away on foot. While firefighters and paramedics worked to free the victims, witnesses chased the suspects from the truck, even cornering one of them about a block away.

"I just suggested that he go back and be accountable for his accident, he denied knowing anything or any responsibility."

Police arrested the two men and have taken them for questioning. So far no charges have been laid.

Despite using the jaws of life to free the female passenger from the Saturn, her injuries were too severe and she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at hospital.

A teenage boy and a middle aged man were taken to Foothills Hospital, but released a short time later. It's believed all three people in the Saturn were members of the same family.
