A 33-year-old Camrose man is facing child pornography charges after police found images of child sexual abuse on his computer.
Alberta's Integrated Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was notified by a police task force in the U.S. about an Alberta resident suspected of distributing child pornography.
During the investigation, which was launched in late Nov., thousands of images of child sexual abuse were found on the man's computer.
Then on December 2, police arrested Steven Mackintosh.
Sgt. Pat Waldorf, the officer in charge of northern Alberta's ICE unit credits new technology for the recent arrest.
"With today's technology, child predators operate without regard for international borders," said Waldorf. "This case is a great example of cross-border cooperation in the investigation of internet crimes against children."
Mackintosh is charged with possession and making available child pornography.
The ICE unit is made up of investigators from the Edmonton Police Service and the RCMP.
