A Calgary teenager will likely have his charges upgraded to murder after a stabbing this weekend.

On Saturday morning police were called to a home in the 6200 block of 31 Avenue N.W.

When emergency crews arrived they found a 46-year-old man in life threatening condition after being stabbed.

A 17-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

On Tuesday, the 46-year-old died from his injuries in hospital which means the suspect's charges will likely be upgraded to first-degree murder.  That could happen during his next court appearance which is on Tuesday, December 8th.

Police say the stabbing was not random and the victim and suspect knew each other.

Officials say the name of those involved cannot be released because it could identify the young person charged.
