A resident of a Calgary condo complex plans to file a complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

Dakota Hart says he is the victim of religious discrimination.

Hart put gargoyles in front of his northeast condo when he moved in four years ago.

"Dakota is Pagan so these are like angels to Christians they are protection for the home they watch over his spirit and watch out for our home," says Scott Gatzke, Hart's partner.

Just recently the couple's condo board asked them to remove the guardians. "I believe it is because of their religious views. Those sitting on the board are very Christian and anything that deviates from that they dig their heels in and that's what's at the heart of it," says Hart.

The couple says the condo board has been harassing them with written warnings, notices and final removal orders since August. They have also been fined more than $200 per month for having the gargoyles on display.

The condo board says the bylaws prohibit exterior displays like the gargoyles.

Neighbours say rules have to be obeyed by everyone living in the condo. "I do believe rules need to be kept. If you want your own gargoyles, or whatever, you may have to live out in the country or something," says Tom Burke.
