Roads in the city were also clogged with traffic and crashes Friday afternoon.

Numerous collisions were reported in every quadrant of the city.

Bow Trail was shut down between Old Banff Coach Road and Sarcee Trail S.W. because it was too slippery for vehicles to drive down.

At least 130 motor vehicle collisions were reported as of 6:30 p.m. with 18 minor injuries.

The city's roads department says a change in the forecast complicated the response.

Officials were originally expecting the snow would not accumulate on the roads.
