Concern over climate change sparked a peaceful sit-in at Canada's Minister of the Environment, Jim Prentice's, Calgary office.

The group, who are made up of Prentice's constituents and other concerned citizens, wants the minister to ensure Canada takes a more active role at the climate conference in Copenhagen.

They want Prentice to sign onto an agreement to lower Canadian emissions to 25 % by 2020.

"Minister Prentice did get our message and the minister is not gonna sign our agreement to legally bind Canada to reducing their emissions," said David Wilson.

Prentice was in Ottawa when the group arrived, but his staff did make sure he received their message.

"We have a system in this country where policies are brought forward by the dually elected government and the minister has met with the youth organizations, environmental end goes, the premier and territorial leaders," said Prentice staffer, Scott Wenger.

Canada has been accused by the international community of blocking real progress towards a sustainable future largely because of the Alberta tar sands.
