Albertans caught a glimpse of the Olympic flame as it made its way through the northern part of the province Friday, drawing large crowds along the way.
The relay began in Grande Prairie before making its way to Fort McMurray and then finally to Cold Lake late Friday night, where CTV News at Six co-anchor Daryl McIntyre carried the torch.
"The three things that will probably stay with me after this torch run [are] the smiles on the side of the road on the people's faces, the applause as the flame got handed over and just a little quiet moment on the road looking up and seeing the flame against the night sky," said McIntyre.
Crowds formed along the highway during the relay, with families trying to catch a glimpse of the Olympic flame.
In Cold Lake members of the military were given a special tribute with 20 armed forces members making a v-shaped formation as they handed off the torch to one another.
The torch will also be carried by CTV News at Six co-anchor Carrie Doll in Wetaskiwin when the torch returns to Alberta in January.
