Beginning November 10th, two new groups will be added to the list of people who can get the H1N1 vaccine.

Starting Tuesday, those eligible for the vaccine will include both parents, or one parent and one caregiver, for infants under six months; it will also include children with chronic health conditions who are under the age of 10, as of November 1st, 2009.

Health officials say children under the age of 10 with chronic health conditions will have to provide proof of age as well as a prescription, or other record of the child's medical condition.

Parents, or one parent and one caregiver, with a child under the age of six months will need to provide proof of the infant's age. That proof must be provided by each caregiver.

"Babies under six months cannot be immunized so the only strategy we have it so immunize their caregivers, but we will have to ask those families to choose two of the caregivers to be vaccinated," says Dr. Andre Corriveau the province's chief medical officer of health.

Health officials say caregivers getting their H1N1 shot will need photo ID and a letter form the parent or guardian confirming their role.

The vaccination clinics will continue to accept all children between the ages of six months and under five years as well as pregnant women.

Alberta Health Services says it is trying to vaccinate as many high risk groups as possible but the supply of vaccine remains limited.

On Friday, Dr. Andre Corriveau said the vaccine supply issue is forcing AHS to make some difficult decisions, "some of the most difficult decisions I have made in my career."

I'm a twenty-eight year old woman with asthma. When am I supposed to get my flu shot? I must have lost my invitation to the Calgary Flames' private clinic in the mail. Darn. I hate when that happens.

here we go again. If I have a wife and a caregiver, my wife and I will have to choose who gets the shot between us if we have a caregiver and an infant under 6 months.

PLEASE!!! Enough about this flu already!! People are dying all around the world by 100's of thousands by starvation, thirst, aids, the common flu (which not to mention by way... over 10 thousand in North American this year have already died from), weather, wars and were worried about another strain of flu that represents such a minor threat in comparison. Media, enough is enough, lets report on something else... like your jobs reporting on local tv, will you have one in the new year? Anything else.... PLEASE!!!

Sick of hearing about h1n1
Don, are you not taking parental leave? A baby under 6 months needs a loving parent not a daycare. Pick the mother, but not if she is breastfeeding. Baby will already be getting immunities in breastmilk.

Jan, apparently the the medical professions trust your immune system more than you. Give it a try. Practise good hygiene, and relax. This h1n1 is not going to kill you.

Like Steve says, the media's constant bombarding of this flu is creating a panic - demic.

It was a pleasant relief when I clicked on the news and did not see one news story about this horrific, castrophic, going to kill us all flu.

The flames wanted it like everyone else. They should let everyone get it and not just high risk people because everyone can get it.

In regards to the Calgary Flames or any other organization recently receiving the H1N1 vaccination, I strongly agree that they should receive it well before alot of other people that have recieved it...the amount of volunteer work they do at both Alberta Childrens Hospital and Ronald McDonald house dictates that they protect our children at all cost...I know, as recently, my daughter has spent a great deal of time in hospital...Meeting the few sport celebrities she did, gave her the encouragement needed to begin healing!!!!! If they could not have come to see her the healing may have been much slower!!
